On the Road
7/12/2010
I've always found it really important to do things that are completely spontaneous, that push me just a little bit out of my daily routine. So....I bought a ticket to Mexico. I leave in two days! I've got about a week off from shows and promo and the timing seemed perfect. Heading to a little town outside of Puerto Vallarta. There is apparently amazing surf there. I'm very excited to brush up on my spanish again. Its amazing that I took 8 years of spanish in school and I have completely forgotten it. Funny how that works. Hopefully it will all come back. I'll post lots of pictures and keep you guys posted on the interesting people I meet.
The last couple weeks have been amazing. I've been back and forth to Toronto every other week doing shows ranging from a couple people to thousands. And when I'm not on the road, I've been biking to the lake or river near my house, spending all day swimming, sitting on the beach, reading writing, and playing my poor uke (a week ago it was completely smashed by my little niece, but it still works...kind of). I've just started reading the book "The Book" by Alan Watts. It was apparently one of the bibles for the 1960's. The Beatles mention it in one of their songs. Its definitely interesting, and may have slightly inspired my last minute decision to go backpack around mexico.
On that note, going to go buy some sunscreen, get some pesos and try to do what I can to act slightly prepared for my completely unprepared trip.
